Lourodis - If I didn't have them someone would complain

Description

What sets them apart from their original human are their cat-like appearances. They stand from 127 cm to 140 cm for the males and 120 to 135 cm for the females. Their bodies are lean and their feet are large and digitigrade. Their arms are of proper proportions with their fingers seeming elongated due to their claws.

Their bodies are covered completely in fur with varying colours and thickness's. They are very similar to cat in their variations. This is because like many of the descendants of man they were made primarily for look with the secondary feature being their appearances.

Culture

This varies from individual to individual. They have no home planet to base their culture on. As such they tend to be the most varied, almost everywhere you go you will find one. Traits that they are known for are common idiosyncrasies, such as they tend to be highly attracted to shiny or moving objects. This is often severe almost to the point of pure fixation.

Well Known Families

Black-Fang - The Black-Fang is an extraordinarily dangerous family. They hire mercenaries from all other races. They are known for being the most wanted family in all of the empire. They are also known to be practically untouchable their power and wealth is so great that they control an army of criminals and thugs.

Vhsallima - Their family name means the right hand of the emperor. They are known for their intelligence and strength. They form the fourth division of the imperial honour guard. Their overall influence and military prowess is comparable to the Dedekind making the two families close allies and rivals.

Just Another Forum

I would like to announce here that I have started a little forum site under the same strange naming convention that I use. It's still a work in progress and I'm not sure what I expect out of it. I would like the forums to become a place of fun and something active but from past experience I learned that is hard without something to draw people to it.

As a side note I am working on a die rolling system for the forums so that people can run rpg's there with DnD and the like.

The last part of this notice is the link
http://typhoonlordgrief.freeforums.org/portal.php

As always feel free to leave questions or suggestions.

P.S. I am still working on the space races I am just waiting for them to be drawn, the artist who I have asked to do this is working very hard on this and has been a big help, give her your support here.

Illustration done by ArchiosLukos, posted here with permission.
Known For
The Canins are known for their adamant loyalty, they are excellent melee combatants and they excel at hunting. Sadly like most of the other ‘beast’ races they have no true governing body under the banner of the empire and thus have little say in political matters.

Culture
The Canin culture is patriarchal and very duty-bound. From birth most Canin’s have jobs selected for them with a required four years period of which they will serve in the military. They are also very proud people. Their known for making strong bonds with others and they serve loyally until their deaths.

Well Known Families
Three-Killer – The Three-Killer family have a unique history in that they were originally a group of assassins that were bred for stealth, intelligence and speed. Their becoming so influential was after a failed attempt of assassinating three of the emperors (Hence their name). Instead of hunting down and punishing the family they were hired by the empire to do covert work.

Dedekind – Legendary warriors who during the war earned even the acknowledgment of the Pure-Breeds. To be born of this family is to be contracted into the life a soldier from birth. They are elite even amongst the elite, and they stand at the seventh ranked military family in the entire empire.

Home-world
Perrelloious – 3, the planet has yet to become fully colonized due to the strange plant life on it. The majority of their race lives in city stations around the planet itself. The surface of their home-world is used for training their troops and weapons testing.

Notable Traits
- Their sense of smell is extreme, some even claim that they can smell time, though no data has proven this.
- They have heightened reflexes based on their instinct, but sometimes their reactions are easily predictable.

Vital Statistics
Height – 1.5 m to 2 m, with the males being taller on average.

Life Span
Male Average Max: 62 Years
Male Average: 43 Years

Female Average Max: 76 Years
Female Average: 62 Years

Racial Traits and Abilities
+2 Wis -2 Int
Low Light Vision
Pack Mentality – Canin’s gain a +2 morale bonus to saves whenever serving their friends, family, or acting under a mission from one whom they’ve pledged their lives.
+2 On Survival and Listen Checks
All Canins have gain Track as a bonus feat

(Please Feel Free to list any comments below, I am a terrible proof-reader so I have no doubt that I may have grammatical errors that will need to be filtered out. )

Space Setting Project

For some time now I have been fascinated with science fiction and more importantly futuristic settings. Slowly I've been making home-brew space stuff for my campaigns though I had never really written them down before, I just mostly made it up on the spot. It was only recently that I decided to make a full campaign taking place in a future setting.

What I've ended up with is a basic history for a world that I dreamt about that I am slowly trying to work on and develop into something that I can treasure. I guess it's best to start off by posting the dream that has inspired me to make this new setting.

"The year was 18036, the human race was no longer recognizable compared to the original earthlings. Instead there were many races races, each the descendants of man. Together they formed a government known as the Aeternum Empire. This government was ruled by the six emperors, Magnus, Julianus, Kyrinus, Gramthus, Locanter, and Zermonth. (My brain apparently liked -us es) These emperors had led humanity on the trail of glory for centuries and had forged a peace that was destined to fail.

For unknown to the emperor the three most powerful royal families had their own ideas of what the human race should be. They each family had formed the consensus that there were only three species that had the right to call themselves the descendants of man. These races were the Neo-Humans, the Genosians, and the Itlans. Using their vast resources they, in secret, built an army capable of fighting toe to toe with the rest of the empire. It was a vast army of robots, they were control by Neo-Humans called psychic commanders. These commanders did what most would consider unthinkable, they gave up their physical existence to have their minds turned into powerful machines capable of simultaneusly controlling a hundred-thousand units at a time. They had a network of forty-thousand psychic commanders controlling a vast legion that has complete tactical awareness unlike anything that the empire had ever seen. This presented the greatest threat that they ever had to had to fight in their long history.

After countless losses at the hands of the pure-breed faction the emperors were growing weary and started a project that had been scraped three-thousand years ago. The project was named ‘Animus Machina’ and it’s reason for being scraped was that the results could pose a threat to everything that the empire valued.

The project was not announced to the public or to anyone other than the emperor and those who would be working on it. The results of Animus Machina were better than anyone could have expected. The subjects that were created were more perfect than the empire had initially prepared for. In total only three-thousand were created, but it was stated that a single one could replace an entire fleet in terms of their effect on the battlefield. They were deemed the Imperial Dragons, a force that defied tactics with sheer power and strength. Before the psychic commanders could even devise counter measure the Imperial Dragons tilted the scales heavily in the favor of the empire. This was a double edged sword for the empire, the dragons were quickly developing an ego. Due to their superior abilities and power they were showing more and more disregard for life. Due to this the emperors enacted a plan to regain complete control over their dragons. It was then that they created the ten heavenly dragons, each loyal to the empire and each was given control over three-hundred dragons.

These heavily dragons were given names not by their creators, but by the empire as a whole. Their names were Shiori the Goddess of Fire, Maxum the Heavenly Bullet, Graham the Shadow, Freya the Goddess of Ice, Nina the Heavenly Dagger, Lucian the North Star, Yutora the Machine God, Borrak the Golem, Deus the King of Lightning, and finally the most feared of all of the Heavenly Dragons, Akuma the Eater of Worlds. With the Heavenly Dragons the fate of the war was sealed. It was a victory for Aeternum Empire, but a loss for the most powerful of the dragons, Akuma.

It was ordered that the dragons be used to detain and if at all possible kill Akuma. His powers were seen as extreme even compared to the combined forces of the other dragons and thus he was the single biggest threat that the emperors could imagine. It was then that they lured Akuma to FCL-2235 with the orders to end him. This was a mistake for due to this course of action the dragons would perish and only those closest to gods would live. Akuma killed the emperor’s dragons and was barely captured by the Heavenly Dragons after seven days of constant fighting.

Even at the end Akuma, was not angry with his siblings, instead he was proud of them for following their orders even if it meant risking their lives to do so. “

So that’s the dream I had, well sort of, it’s the jist of the dream. I loved this dream so much that I decided the entire setting must come to life for some form of campaign and that I should work hard to achieve my goal of creating something so wonderful. From there I decided to break it down into it’s more detailed components, the first one that was the most important to me was ‘who were the other species?’ It bothered me to no end because I saw them in my dream but they had no names or vital statistics. It’s what I am currently working for the campaign because I feel like if I don’t know who they are then I can’t really create the rest of the universe because they help shape it.

From now on whenever I get progress done on the campaign I'll make sure to post it here for people to see, read, and comment on. I would love peoples input because it would help me form a more rock solid setting for others to enjoy.

Some Thoughts On The Creation Of Campaigns

So let's hop right to it! This first post will be going over the creative process and how I go about it. Whenever I create a campaign I think about a few major factors tone, setting, and players. Though there are plenty of other smaller factors these three are the main ones that effect my thought processes on what I am making.

We'll start with the tone. The tone is the feeling that you wish to envoke in your players. It's probably the most important the three seeing as once the campaign is over they will remember the tone quite clearly. Ways to setup the tone are things such as elaborate back-stories. A narration following your beginning exposition. Many people don't realize this but the first paragraph they post in a campaign sets the tone for the rest of the session if not the entire campaign. In the beginning you need your players to know what they are to expect. If you are running a horror campaign then you should include reasons for them to be afraid. Remember if you want your players to have a reaction you need to first give them a reason to react. The less spontaneous you are usually means the better.

Some examples of how I setup tone are:
            - I will use ambient music, this is easy enough all you really have to do is youtube the emotion you are looking for, or you can go my route and download ost's to several shows, animes, and games. After that setup playlist of similar songs by their emotional appeal. It works great!

-Timing your pauses, this is a fun one to play with, but it's effects differ greatly player to player. What you'll want to do is time your pauses to put more emphasis on certain words. You can make this even better by stressing the word prior to the pause. A classic example of timing your pauses is the way people satirize Kirk from the original Star Trek. By placing the pauses it makes it sound cheezy and over the top but it displays the power of doing this.

            - For forum based role-playing or IRC based role-playing this all relies on word choice and descriptive ability. Which for many (including myself at times) is difficult.

The next of the three is setting. This is similar to tone in many way as it is one of the main deciders of the tone. Your setting is simple to talk about but hard to decide. It is things such as time period, current events, cultures, surrounding, myth, etc. It IS your campaign. Everything you want you players to go through, the very world around them.

Examples of settings I've used are:
            - Zombie apocalypse (original right :P)
            - Golem Master
            - Detective Noir
            - Explorers of the underdark
            - Many more.

The last thing (and perhaps the first at time) is the players. You need to know who you are appealing to. This is really the decider for what your doing with the campaign. The reason that you normally need to do this last is that your players will be attracted to the campaign you making. (Though I have done it the other way around) It's also really important to think about how many player you want in the campaign because that effects the difficulty in a large way. Normally I'd say no more than 8, and that is stretching it. (Even for post by post campaign because you have to wait for people responses) Also with a large number of players you have a higher chance of having mishaps with scheduling which can result in a campaign getting delayed (or cancelled at times.)

Really I can't think of any other advice on this other than, get to know the people you'll be playing with, because chances are you'll be playing with them fora  while.

That's about it! I hope that what I've said wasn't complete gibberish, if you have any question feel free to ask me anything. The same goes to criticism, I want to give information in the most concise way possible.

Greetings, this is my first blog post.... EVER!

Hello everyone! I am Typhoon Lordgrief, and this is my first blog post I have ever done so I'm not quite sure what to say. I mean to me I feel like I should just be as honest as possible and say the first things that come to mind, but at the same time I veiw life sortof like chess, your first move is very important....

Anyhow the reason I am starting a blog is because I though it sounded kind of interesting. That and sometimes I feel like I need to just sit down and release my current ideas so that new ones can form. The other reason I am wanting to start a blog is, sadly, more narcissistic, I really would like to get positive feedback on some of the things I do, regardless of how silly and trivial they may be. Though a blog probably isn't the best for that and I don't plan on just whining about random things or my life.

The majority of things I will be posting will be ideas for campaigns, short stories, and insights into how I plan stuff out. Though I will occasionally give a post on something I just saw, maybe a short review here and there. I'm also willing to do research on certain topics based on question that I am asked.

For any future reference you can always reach me via e-mail at typhoonlordgrief@gmail.com. I am considering making a skype special for everyone who reads.
